Governing Council/ Advisory Committee
Objectives:
To obtain approval of updated policies and procedures of the institution based on revision of syllabus.
- To obtain permission to modify and renew infrastructure, staffing, teaching & learning resources, new facilities and achievements to sustain the quality teaching process and to meet norms as per apex body.
- To conduct meeting once in a year
- Plan and obtain approval for institutional budget
- To review and recruit teaching and non-teaching staff based on requirement.
- To update regarding admission and the results of the academic year.
Management Review Meeting Committee
Objectives:
To obtain approval of updated policies and procedures of the institution based on revision of syllabus.
- To review periodically the working of Quality management system
- To ensure the continual improvement of quality management system
- Reviews adequacy of teaching, non-teaching staffs and supporting facilities to plan, implement and evaluate the Quality management system
Activities:
- Prepares institutional calendar of events to implement curricular and curricular activities.
- Monitors progress of syllabus and planning for new courses
- Plans and implements faculty training programmes and promotions
- To conduct meeting once in a year.
General Faculty Committee
All faculties are involved in this meeting
Objectives:
To implement curricular, co-curricular and extracurricular activities
Activities:
- To analyze the implementation of each month classroom and clinical hours
- To provide general academic/professional/any other related information to the Students through faculty
- To suggest and guide the faculty regarding activities carried out
- To know the attendance shortage of students in order to take appropriate action
- To analyze student performance regarding IA test and take appropriate action for needful improvement
- To review the class meeting and other activities of the class as per the calendar of events
- Conduct meeting once in a month
Research Committee
Objectives:

- To review periodically the working of Quality management system
- To ensure the continual improvement of quality management system
- Reviews adequacy of teaching, non-teaching staffs and supporting facilities to plan, implement and evaluate the Quality management system
Activities:
- Promote nursing research activities by facilitating the development and maintenance of research interest among students and staff.
- Provide a forum for discussion of research study /research project, conducted by students.
- Support the need for evidence based practice and activities that facilitate the appropriate transfer of best evidence into practice.
- Promote collaboration among members in their research related activities.
- Conducting regular UG/PG research/ project presentation
- Assist and review in refining the research proposals.
- Provide research consultation when appropriate.
- Appraise the research activities of the students periodically.
Curriculum and Evaluation Committee
Objectives:
- To ensure that UG and PG curriculum is designed, implemented and evaluated as per apex body.
- To ensure that the design and structure of a curriculum meets the established curricular goals and objectives
- To monitor all aspects of the curriculum.
- To evaluate all aspects of the curriculum periodically
Activities:
- Plans calendar of events for all the courses
- Selection of class coordinators and course coordinators
- Prepare course wise master rotation plan for the academic year
- Designing the course developments in accord with the overall academic objectives.
- Supervise the instructional plans for each class/course.
- Ensure on provision of adequate instructional resources
- Conduct periodic committee meetings once a year.
- Investigate specific curriculum problems present and discuss them, find solutions and take corrective measures.
- Plan and organize staff development activities relating to curriculum needs in co-ordination with staff welfare committee.
- Obtain and review feedback from various sources of the curriculum and instructional programs such as students, aluminai and stakeholders..
- Define student evaluation procedures.
- Plan and conduct evaluation of particular instructional program and also the entire curriculum plan of each program.
- Plant and obtain objective specific curriculum evaluation.
Institutional Ethics Committee
Institutional Ethics Committee of Sri Devaraj Urs College of nursing was constituted for discussion and approval of institution/collaborative research projects with respect to safeguard dignity, right, safety and well being of all research participants and to ensure that the research is carried under prescribed guidelines.
Objectives:
- To ensure the competent review and evaluation of all ethical aspects of research projects received in an objective manner.
- To protect the safety, right and well being of the potential research participants.
- To conduct scientific evaluation and to ensure technical appropriateness of the proposed study.
- To ensure that universal ethical values and international scientific standards are expressed in terms of local community values/customs.
- To assist in the development and education of a research community responsive to local health care requirement.
- Creation, developing, revising and implementing ethical guidelines (SOPs)
- Academic assistant who will help the IEC member Secretary in executing functions of the IEC, documentation and archiving documents.
- All documents, communication of IEC will be dated, filed and preserved in a secure place.
- Only person who are authorized by chairman of IEC will have access t to various documents.
- All documents related to research project will be archived for a minimum period of three years in the institute following completion or termination of project.
- All the agenda and minutes of meeting will be filed and archived the records shall be made available to relevant statutory authorities upon request.
- Once in a year General Body Meeting will be conducted.
- Executive meeting will be conducted as and when required.
Library Committee
Objectives:
- To promote the smooth access and utilization of books, journals video caste, Computer and digital facilities to staff and students.
- Conduct meeting every 6 months once to discuss about the development of the Library
- Prepares library schedule batch wise and displays in the notice board/ informs to the concerned class-coordinators
- Prepare a library budget based on admission rate and files
- Provides a proposal to the principal to purchase department/ subject wise text books and Journals to purchase to the Library
- Monitors students and staffs utilization of library
- Collect the important articles specific to nursing profession and display on the notice board
- Promotes and Maintains a conducive environment in the library
- Conducts stock verification once in a year
Staff Welfare Committee
Objectives:
- Uphold the staff code of ethics, rules and regulation framed by the institution.
- Built a healthy working environment and faster good relationships among staff (create work friendly environment).
- To co-ordinate for benevolent facilities for staff members.
- Identifies communication and co-ordinate matters concern to welfare and development of staff.
- Equity of work issues, reinforcement for the good work done.
- Motivates and improved the sense f security among staff.
- Provide a platform to exercise their professional capabilities.
- Establish a formal means to identify specific issues relevant to staff welfare at the college.
- Advise the management on work matters of interest and concern to staff.
- Share with management the staff ideas and suggestions for improvement to achieve the institution objectives.
- Facilitate effective communication between staff and the various management structures within the college.
Student Welfare Committee
Objectives:
- Review the conditions that contribute to the academic success, personal development and well-being of students.
- Collect and share information relating to student welfare matters.
- Co-ordinate and communicate with teachers and students on matters concerning to the welfare of the students.
- Invite guest speakers on aspects of student welfare.
- Conducting meetings 03 times in a year.
- Arranging for physical examination and vaccination.
- Preparing health in-charges rotation plan for students.
- Arranging recreational and cultural activities in co-ordination with SNA
Anti – Ragging Committee
Objectives:
- To root out ragging in all its form from Sri Devaraj Urs School and College of Nursing.
- To prevent ragging occurrence by using regulations.
- To punish those who indulge in ragging in spite of prohibition and prevention.
- To keep a continuous monitory and vigilance over ragging, to prevent its occurrence and recurrence.
- To promptly deal with the incidents of ragging brought to the notice.
- Punish the guilty either by itself or by putting-forth its finding/recommendation/suggestion before the competent authority for decision.
Disipilinary Committee(Staff & Students)
Objectives:
- Maintain professional behavior/etiquettes among students.
- Plan, develop and display the rules and regulations at college, clinicals and hostel.
- Reporting incident within 24 hours to principal’s office.
- Verify and analyze the issues.
- Classify minor or major incidents.
- Notifying to the parents or guardian
- Taking necessary action.
Staff & Students Recruitment And Selection Committee
Objectives:
- To recruit the right student to the right programme and right person to right job
- Selection of teaching and non-teaching staff and students as per the criteria given by apex bodies and institutional policy.
- Planning Orientation to the selected staffs and students on rules and regulations of the college.
- Explaining the rules, regulations of the Institution and responsibilities of particular post.
- The meeting is conducted as and when required.
Students Counseling Cell
Objectives:
- To provide counseling services to the students
- To provide appropriate services to the students for their emotional, psychological and personal development in order to enhance their academic and overall performance.
- To reduce stress among students and thereby improving their performance.
- To inculcate good life-style pattern among students.
- To provide sustainable psycho-social support in order to gain control over all the circumstances.
Activities:
- Providing guidance and counseling to the students wherever it is required.
- Planning and conducting seminars and other programs to improve over all development of the students in co-ordination with student welfare committee.
- Conducting one to one sessions with students to find out problems and helping them to cope with the demanding situation.
- To provide information and literature about stress management and personality development.
- To guide the students for good lifestyle pattern by conducting regular group discussions
Grievance Redressal Committee
Objectives:
- Reviewing and resolving staff/students grievances.
- Complaints and grievances are handled according to regular requirements of institutional policy.
- Maintain compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Provide a forum to ensure appropriate and timely review and resolution of staff grievances
Activities:
- The grievance committee meeting will be conducted as and when the complaints are received
- To provide an opportunity in the institution that may provide easy access for ventilating personal grievances.
- Ensure speedy consideration of grievance and decision there on
- Impart a degree of objectively and fair play in the whole process.
- Establish good communication between the employee and management.
- Make every effort to remove misunderstanding and to develop congenial atmosphere in the institution.
Parent Teacher Association
Objectives:
- To foster better relationships between parents and their children’s college
- To promote open communication and co-operation between teaching staff and parents.
Activities:
- Plan and organize meetings with teaching staff and parents twice a year (after 1st and 3rd IA test) and when ever required.
- To update parents regarding their children performance in the classes, clinicals and on overall development in the college and to get feedback for the same.
Women Empowerment Cell And Anti-sexual Harassment Cell
Objectives:
- To promote brotherhood companionship and gender-equality.
- To counsel and impart self protection among girl students and women employees
Activities:
- To practice Zero tolerance towards man kind of gender-based discrimination, exploitation and harassment.
- To conduct meeting thrice a year
Placement Cell
Objectives:
- To provide a platform of support service for the students in developing their clinical skills, communication ability, personal development and confidence to perform better.
- To provide support services to the students to face the challenges with regard to competitive examinations without any stress.
- Provide guidance and counseling to the students regarding various traditional and Job oriented courses,
- To provide or display the information related to vacant jobs
Activities:
- To provide carrier guidance twice in a year
- To provide information and literature about the various possible careers available in India and abroad.
- To help students to resolve career problems.
- To equip them career related information to cope with the career challenges.
- To provide information further academic courses and scholarship etc.
Equal Opportunity Cell
Objectives:
- To oversee the effective implementation of policies and programmes for disadvantaged groups.
- To promote behaviors that creates an atmosphere that ensures gender equality and equal opportunities.
Activities:
- Oversee/monitor various welfare schemes/ programmes sponsored by the Government of India/State Government, UGC or any agency/ organization as well as those devised by the college/affiliating university for the disadvantaged groups for their effective implementation
- Be responsible for the effective functioning of SC/ST Cell and other such Cells/Centres dealing with the problems of different socially disadvantaged groups.
- Convene the meetings of incharge of other Committees/Programmes dealing with social issues such as Gender Sensitization Committee against sexual harassment (GSCASH), National Service Schemes (NSS) etc. to review their activities.
- The Advisor shall submit the progress/review report to the Principal.
Environmental Cell / Green Audit
Objectives:
- Understanding various environmental issues and the need to address them.
- Sensitizing people about the need for protection of environment for a sustainable and healthy future.
Activities:
- Initiating and facilitating collaboration with various organizations working extensively in various fields such as waste management, water conservation, energy practices etc.
- Setting up the latest technology (example: Solar panels, water harvesting plants, composting pits etc) meant for maximizing environmental impact.
Youth Red Cross Unit / National Service Scheme
Objectives:

The Youth Red Cross Unit of Sri Devaraj Us College of Nursing is organized for the purpose of inculcating in Indian Youth the ideal and practice of service especially in relation to:
- Taking care of their own health and that of others
- Understanding and accepting of civic responsibility.
- Maintaining a spirit of friendliness and helpfulness towards other youth in India and all over the world.
- Dissemination of the Red Cross movement.

National Service Scheme

Activities:
- General Orientation of NSS Volunteers
- Skill development (first aid, disaster management, public speaking, leadership motivation, HIV/AIDS awareness etc.).
- Community Development activities (in the adopted village)- Survey in the village, green plantation, Health, Cleanliness, Road Safety, Visits to Homes, technical training for rural youth and SHG, sanitation, women development programmes, consumer Awareness etc.

Alumni Association
Objectives:
- To create a forum to promote and foster relationship among the alumni and institution
- To actively and constructively participate in the well being of Institution by utilizing the good will, rich experience and services of the Alumni.
- To initiate Scholarships, Prizes/Medals for the deserving students of College of Nursing.
- To provide and disseminate information regarding the institution, its graduates, facilities and students to Alumni.
- To arrange lecture by eminent alumni and other eminent personality for the benefit of students & Alumni.
- To organize career guidance programme for outgoing UG & PG students.
Activities
- To enroll and maintain membership of the association.
- Conduct meeting twice in a year
- To establish and maintain a link with all the students and with the community at large.
- To maintain a close relationship between the ex-students and the present students of the college.
Continuing Nursing Education
Objectives:
- Update the knowledge with current trend, information and technology in nursing.
- Maintain standards of health care at acceptable level, and setting standard of performance.
- Develop/built a healthy working environment and faster good relationship among the faculty.
- Provide the faculty with personal and professional enrichment.
- Provides a platform to exercise their professional capabilities.
- Encourage to conduct EB a research activities.

Hostel Committee
Objectives:
- To maintain friendly and homely atmosphere to the students.
- To develop social integrity among students.
- To provide general comfort and welfare to the students
- To maintain discipline in the hostel.
Activities
- Periodic review of cleanliness of hostel and mess.
- Periodic review of matters related to mess and hostel.
- Periodic review of policies related to hostel and mess
- Conducting hostel meetings once in 6 months/ whenever required.
- Conducting social nights and encouraging group prayers
- Arranging for recreational activities.
- Monitoring of quality and preparation of food.
- Monitoring maintenance work.
- Reviewing mess menu based on student’s feedback.
Student’s Nurses Association
Objectives:
- To help students to uphold the dignity and ideals of profession for which they are qualifying.
- To promote a corporate spirit among students for common goal.
- To furnish nurse in training with advice in their courses of study leading up to professional qualifications.
- To encourage leadership abilities and help students to gain a wide knowledge of the nursing profession in all its different branches and aspects.
- To increase the students social contacts and general knowledge in order to help them take their place in the community when they have finished their training.
- To encourage both professional and recreational meetings, games and sports.
- To encourage students to compete for prizes in the student nurses exhibition and to attend national and regional conferences.
Activities:

- Conducts General Body meetings once in a year and executive meeting as and when required.
- Elects SNA office bearers once in a year.
- Celebrates various national days like Independence Day, Republic day and Kannada Rajyostava day.
- Organizes significant days like Nurses Day, Teachers day and New Year.
- Celebrates various festivals like Onam and Christmas.
- Plans and conducts college events like Freshers Day, Graduation and Lamp lighting ceremony and farewell of students and staff.
- Arranges picnic for students and staff.
- Arranges guest lecturers for enhancement of knowledge for students and staff.
- Maintain documents and registers of meetings and financial expenditure.
Anti Drugs / Substance Abuse Cell
The anti-drugs cell of the college has been constituted to ensure a drug- free campus by imposing a total ban on the possession or consumption or use of drugs and alcohol by students of the college, within or outside the campus/hostels.
Objectives:
- To prevent substance abuse and to create a secure, conducive atmosphere for learning among the students on the campus
- The possession, use and/or distribution of substances of abuse are prohibited on premises.
- Supervisors and security will carry out random checks on students/residential premises for any substances of abuse
- Possession, use and/or distribution of substances of abuse will attract appropriate disciplinary action which may include expulsion.
Activities
- Educating the students about the ill-effects of drugs and alcohol
- Organizing awareness programmes in the college and hostels
- Once in a year General Body Meeting will be conducted.
- Executive meeting will be conducted as and when required.
Disciplinary procedures:
- Immediate suspension from the college, pending enquiry.
- Parent/legal guardian will be informed immediately and will be expected to meet the Head of Institution (HOI) at the earliest.
- The Institutional disciplinary committee will conduct an enquiry and subjected to liable disciplinary action.
