Title: Student Mentoring

Objectives:

Context:

The mentoring system is relatively new to a student entering the institute. It has been opted as one of the best practice by the institution. The students take time from months to years to adjust with college environment, academic subjects, and clinical postings hence institution adopted as peer mentoring, where seniors will assist with juniors to adjust to the college in all academic curricular and co-curricular activities

The Practice::

Mentoring session in theory is conducted after each IA, practical session will be conducted daily after Post clinical conference. Mentoring and peer mentoring system has been in the institution with the ratio of faculty to peer mentor and mentee is 1:1:5. Peer mentor will be 3 rd year B.Sc. nursing students who are advanced learners and having skill in practice, having good communication with the teacher to give regular feedback. As soon as a student enters the institute faculty member is assigned to take over the role of the mentor. Peer mentor also refer and helps in updating the previous knowledge.

Evidence of success

Improvement in mentees discipline, interaction and communication skills, Attendance, pass percentage of average of the students in academics have achieved

Title: Sri R.L Jalapa Stipend for Nursing Students

Objective of the practice:

Context:

The main motto of Sri R.L.Jalappa stipend is to provide comprehensive education to the students, with this concern for the first time in and around kolar district, the college has initiated Stipend for the Nursing students, it has been presented in IQAC meeting held on 1-sep-2023 and it will been implemented from the academic year 2023-24. The main focus is to upgrade the education who are in need by providing financial aid to complete higher education.

The Practice:

Eligibility: Graduate in BSc (N) or PBBSc (N) with one year experience should be scored 50% marks in entrance test and interview
Method of Selection Process: Selection for MSc Nursing and PBBSc (N) Programme is made through two stage performance as follows
Stage 1:
Written test carrying 50 marks for 60 minutes duration in the subject learnt in their UG programme.
Stage 2:
Interview and document verification by selection committee which carries 15 marks the candidate must secure overall (stage I & stage II) 50% marks to get eligibility.

Evidence of success:

This initiative is expected to deliver education who are in need by providing financial aid for higher education.

There were no problems encountered due to this initiative. However, the implementation and periodic assessment would give further input on the problems encountered.
